Who Came to Harm Baby Krishna?

One morning in Gokul, a strange woman quietly entered the village. She looked beautiful and gentle, and no one had seen her there before. She walked slowly through the streets, looking around carefully.

 
The villagers smiled at her as she passed. She smiled back and spoke kindly to everyone. At first, there seemed to be nothing unusual about her. But after looking around the village for some time, she stopped and asked about one little boy.

 
“Where can I find baby Krishna?” she asked.

 
The villagers happily told her where Krishna lived. They had no reason to be suspicious. To them, she simply looked like a kind woman who wanted to meet the famous little child of Gokul.
The woman walked toward Nanda and Yashoda’s home. Inside, baby Krishna was happily playing. Yashoda was taking care of him when the woman arrived.

She smiled at Yashoda and politely asked if she could see Krishna.

 

Yashoda welcomed her. She did not know who the woman really was or why she had come to Gokul.

The woman slowly walked toward baby Krishna. Krishna looked at her with his bright, peaceful eyes. The woman smiled and gently picked him up in her arms. For a moment, everything seemed perfectly normal.

She held Krishna close and pretended to be loving and caring. But she had not come to Gokul simply to meet the little boy. She had a dangerous plan. The woman was secretly carrying poison. She planned to make baby Krishna drink from her and believed that he would soon become weak.

She carefully moved Krishna closer.

But Krishna was not an ordinary baby.

He seemed to know exactly what was happening.

The woman began feeding him, expecting her plan to work. But instead of becoming weak, Krishna remained completely safe.

Something unexpected was happening to her.

She suddenly felt her strength disappearing.

Her smile vanished.

She tried to pull Krishna away, but she could not. She pulled harder, but Krishna held on firmly. The woman began to panic. The little baby she thought would be helpless was taking away all her strength. “What is happening?” she cried. She tried one more time to free herself, but it was too late. She could no longer hide her true form.

Suddenly, her beautiful appearance disappeared. Her body began to grow larger and larger. Her face changed, and she turned into a huge and frightening demon.

Yashoda and the people nearby were shocked.

The woman who had looked so gentle only moments before was actually a dangerous demon! She screamed loudly and rushed outside the village. Her giant body became enormous before she finally fell to the ground with a huge sound. The villagers stood in shock. Who was this terrifying demon?

And why had she come looking for baby Krishna? The truth soon became clear.

She was Putana, a dangerous demon sent by the evil king Kansa. Kansa was afraid of Krishna and had sent her to find and kill the little boy. But Putana’s plan had completely failed.

Yashoda quickly picked up baby Krishna and held him close. She was relieved to see that her little Krishna was safe. The villagers gathered around them. They were amazed that such a tiny baby had defeated a demon so powerful and frightening.

After the danger was gone, peace slowly returned to Gokul. Everyone was still talking about the strange woman who had entered the village and the shocking truth they had discovered about her. Putana had come pretending to be kind, but Krishna was never fooled by her disguise.

This story teaches children that appearances can sometimes be misleading. Someone may look friendly on the outside while hiding something very different inside. It also shows how goodness and truth can overcome evil.
